The therapeutic work is based in authentic interaction, collateral experiences, play, challenge, mentorship, and connection. The potential for healing and growth is inherent within this approach. The outcomes are based in the time and work that are put into the process by both client and counselor with the unwavering support of their communities and the natural world.

I am committed to providing psychotherapy that is both compassionate and empowering. My perspective is holistic in that I believe we are connected in body, heart, mind and spirit. Furthermore, I believe that deep within each of us resides our truth and my work with you is to support you in releasing any barriers that interfere with your awareness of this inner wisdom. As you are able to live your truth, you will experience contentment with yourself and in relationship with others. My approach is eclectic, blending cognitive-behavioral techniques, family therapy systems, relational techniques and mindfulness techniques. I am known for my honest, straightforward and practical style balanced with a strong intuition. My practice has been devoted to working in rural areas so I have worked with people of all ages and walks of life. I love nature and will gladly meet clients outside when appropriate. Because of my love of the wilderness, I have co-founded a business with my daughter called SoulTerra (www.SoulTerra.net) where we offer guided wilderness retreats. It is not psychotherapy and therefore, not covered by insurance. The retreats are focused on connecting deeply with self, others and nature.

(Scheduling in-person and Zoom now) Sometimes we experience disturbing levels of anxiety, depression, anger, or loss. Sometimes we feel disconnected or not able to get a handle on things. In those times emotions can be overwhelming or confusing, and our usual ways of dealing with life don't seem to work anymore. Therapy offers a way to increase awareness of who we are, measure our limits, and expand our personal and interpersonal abilities to make significant changes. I believe we have within us the potential for a healthy and creative life. In the therapy process, we have an opportunity to discover and unleash that potential. I have a PhD in Clinical Psychology and a PhD in Interpersonal Communication. I believe self-awareness and a clear, accurate expression of our feelings make change possible individually and in relationships. I have found this approach useful for working professionals (in medicine, law, etc.) with stressful jobs as well as in private life. Tools are essential As a Jungian Analyst, I know that problems and solutions may involve deeper, internal aspects of our psychologies. The more we know and understand our true natures, the better we can creatively work with deeper, unconscious processes and better integrate them into our conscious lives. For those who pursue it, analysis can be an exciting, rewarding journey.

Many of my clients have been in psychotherapy/counseling before and start working with me to go deeper to transform from the repetitive relational patterns that hold them back. Most of my clients value psychotherapy and see the benefit from telling the emotionally significant story of their lives in a confidential safe setting. Trauma, addiction, depression, and anxiety are issues that I have the most experience relating with. Some of life's dilemmas require a conversation to resolve. A conversation that weaves past and present, fantasy and reality, desire and inhibition to form a detailed understanding of one's life. A therapeutic relationship is life enriching. We'll study your past and how you relate to the important aspects of your present day life. I'm interested in working with you to resolve your life's dilemmas. My approach is a direct and honest communication. Call me to talk more. I hold LPC & LAC licenses, trained in EMDR and received my MA at Naropa University's Contemplative Psychotherapy program blending Eastern mindfulness practices with Western counseling approaches. I'm contracted with VA to work with veterans who have service-connected disabilities. I'm a former US Marine.
